It’s *Not* My Fault!

24 08 2005

OK, this time my absence for forever and a day was NOT my fault. Apparently the server that hosts this site, as well as many others, had a hacker breach its security this summer and compromised everyone’s passwords and account information. This made the host unable to be logged into in which to warn my visitors of the situation and also made it impossible to update anything. So, barring another hacker breach, I can safely say this site is going to be updated much more frequently, now that I have money rolling in for my car and have the time (in between studies of course) to get this thing into running condition. So here is an update on what’s all been going on since the last journal entry: I have money coming in from my job, lots of money in fact, and this has really helped with me being able to purchase parts for Valarie. I have just recently purchased a full set of Autometer gauges and once they arrive (should be today or tomorrow, Saturday at the latest), I will post a new entry as well as be doing write-ups for my Guides section on how to install each and every one of them. I have also changed the order in which I plan on doing things a bit, in order to make the process more compliant with my current situation. Instead of doing the front end rebuild, I feel the car would do better off getting all of the gauges to work (especially the important ones like oil pressure, water temp, and the speedometer), and then replace the car with a Q-jet, as it would have an electric choke that would help the drive-ability of the car, then get some good tires on it and take the transmission in to see if its a easily fixable problem. If everything checks out I will be able to find a place that I can have the car up on jack stands for a week or so as I do the front end rebuild, and once all that is done I should be able to drive the car much more frequently. Shelley and I pulled out the air conditioning unit inside the car a few days ago along with all the vents in order to safe us some weight when the car is ready to race as well as giving us *MUCH* more room in which to do some rewiring (such as with the gauges). I would like to do a guide on that, but I am unsure how helpful it would be as I forgot to take my camera and it was only the interior unit, because the rest had already been pulled out.

I am also planning on getting an amateur radio license in furtherance of my goal of storm chasing more often and more accurately. Shelley and I also went to my home state of Michigan to visit with my family and have an all-around good time where I grew up. We dined at some delicious restaurants, went salmon fishing in Lake Michigan, visited the Studebaker Museum, and visited the lakefront area to watch the sunset and swim.

Also, Chris came down to buy that car in Waxahachie, Texas, it is a 1987 Firebird Formula with a 350 Chevy, that is slanted more to the racing side than the stock side. Pretty quick car, from the time slips they had given him it was a low-13 second car. He then proceeded to buy a cowboy hat from Wal-Mart just because he has never seen them sold there. When he got back home though, he made it known that a little 350 Chevy with some go fast goodies is too much for him and dented the car up something good on the drivers side from taking a on-ramp a bit (like two times) above the suggested speed. When I become president, I am taking away his license, so that no more cars will have to be abused by him. He also said I can no longer drive because I have lost that aggressive driving tendency that I got from driving in Michigan due to being in Oklahoma, oh well, guess we’re even then.

Fast. Cheap. Good. Choose 2.
