It’s *MY* Fault!

21 11 2005

This one is my fault. Sorry I have been gone so long, but there has been nothing to really report and therefore I have been kind of quiet. In fact there is really nothing new to report in terms of my car, which is making me grow in frustration everyday that I haven’t seen my car ( it’s been awhile ). There is nothing I can do really as I have to make sure I get good grades, as they are as important as ever, and I think this semester may be my best one yet. I will be working on the car ASAP, but ASAP is looking more and more like after finals sometime – if the weather is good enough. It’s even more frustrating because – to be perfectly honest – I have no freaking clue what I am doing, don’t have the tools to do it even if I knew how, and don’t have a garage or anyplace to jack the car up even if I had the tools and the knowledge. What I need is to find a gear head student like me, with access to at least a place to work and some more knowledge than what I have, yet this still eludes me. Though Shelley and I could be an excellent team, right now we are the blind leading the blind, without a walking stick, in the middle of the woods. Trust me I am frustrated (it is my favorite word in this entry), and I really want to do something, but it just seems like nothing will ever get done. I did get the Autometer gauges, and have installed all but one of them, but I haven’t hooked them up yet. This is mainly because I can’t get under the car in order to hook up the transmission-mounted speedometer cable, which prevents me from seeing my speed, which the cops claim is rather important. I need to get some grommets for the firewall to rerun some wires and the drive gears for calibration of the speedometer. I really need to get out there and do some work and quit whining about it, but this school has really kept me down. Screw up the car or not, I need to get out there. I just really wish I could have access to more of the big 3 ( knowledge, tools, working location ). Hopefully this will be a warm winter break, and I will be able to get out there and work on my car.

Some small non-car related notes: We found a stray cat by our front door, very thin, but healthy and kind, so we took him in and now he is Shelley’s Apartment cat. His name is Tony and he is a male orange tabby cat. Also, Tony Stewart who is arguably the best driver in the world ( personal I feel it is true ), has won his second NASCAR Championship in 3 years. He is also the first driver to win the championship under the old format and the new format. Go Tony Stewart Go!

Spring Cleaning

15 03 2005

Its a good day when you wake up after a long night to the UPS girl (yeah, I’m shocked too) delivering your long awaited (5 days) parts. Now I just have to wait for the weather to break in order to go out to my car and start installing everything, except maybe the Del-A-Lum bushings because I would like to do that at the same time I install the KONI shocks and Eaton Springs. Currently, it looks as if the weather will break Thursday, but that is a while out and things can change quickly with the weather.

What happened was I got bored Saturday, and James and I went out to the car in order to clean his car and wheels off, and I was tinkering with a few things on Valarie. During this tinkering I took off a few parts and decided they were in desperate need of cleaning, so I loaded them up and took them home. I then spent the next 8 hours or so soaking, scrubbing, and cleaning off years of dirt, debris, and road grime from the parts, which I must say was no easy task. I even took both taillight assemblies apart and cleaned the lenses and reflective coatings so the lights would shine better. I fully believe it is the attention to detail that separates a good car from a great car, and I want this to be a great car.

I will do another entry after I install some of these things with before and after pics, which will hopefully be soon.

Torque, don’t touch th- **clank** BAD KITTY!!!
